We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate Governance and Commercial team at Brisbane City Council. As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a key role in providing legal advice and support to our major projects and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist legal advice and negotiate with external stakeholders
  • Advise on commercial, large-scale construction contracts and arrangements
  • Draft and advise on complex procurement contracts
  • Maintain a knowledge of contemporary professional literature and case law
  • Develop strategy, advise on procurement, and manage risk for major projects
  • Support daily operations and transformative projects
  • Lead by example in customer focus, collaborating across council to resolve issues
  • Partner with senior legal counsel and set performance standards
  • Deliver timely, professional legal services in clear, easy-to-understand language
  • Engage with senior Council and State Government representatives
  • Exercise independent judgment with broad guidance from Senior Legal Counsel
  • Mentor and guide staff

Requirements:

  • Admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland
  • Hold a current Practising Certificate from the Queensland Law Society
