Overview
The MDS Coordinator plays a vital role in the comprehensive assessment and timely completion of all aspects of the MDS and PPS. This position requires strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, Federal Medicare, and state Medicaid reimbursement guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have experience with LTC/SNF clinical documentation and MDS software, as well as therapy software systems. Prior experience in a long-term care setting is essential for success in this role.

A day in the life of the MDS Coordinator includes collecting, reviewing, and data entering clinical information related to assigned MDS following federal and state mandated regulations/requirements and the current MDS 3.0 RAI guidelines. Attending Care Plan conferences as needed and issuing Notice of Medicare non-coverage as required are also key responsibilities.

In addition to these duties, the MDS Coordinator must be a Registered Nurse with a strong understanding of post-acute care regulatory compliance and reimbursement guidelines. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary to excel in this position.

The successful MDS Coordinator will work closely with the Finance Department and conduct Performance Improvement activities related to the MDS process.
