Aviation Maintenance Professional

A passionate individual seeking to complete an apprenticeship and become a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical, Structures or Avionics.

  • You will join the Maintenance team at RAAF Base Richmond and work in support of the C-130J Through Life Support Program.

Meeting technical and professional commitments of an apprenticeship, with the outcome of achieving a Certificate IV Aeroskills (Mechanical, Structures or Avionics).

  • Interpret health and safety practices in aviation maintenance.
  • Plan and organise aviation maintenance work activities.
  • Apply quality standards applicable to aviation maintenance processes.
  • Interpret and use aviation maintenance industry manuals and specifications.
  • Complete aviation maintenance industry documentation.
  • Perform basic hand skills, standard trade practices, and fundamentals in aviation maintenance.
  • Undertake technical and professional training as required.

This certification is nationally recognised and is industry relevant. You will be supported by dedicated Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Mentors.

  • The typical Apprenticeship structure involves applying knowledge from theory studies within the workplace and on-the-job competency acquisition as demonstrated through an experience journal.
  • Theory studies will be completed at Padstow TAFE.

Upon completion, there are opportunities for ongoing employment as a qualified AME and development opportunities to obtain a Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence (MAML) with a C-130J type rating.
