Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dam Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Service Enablement Headworks Team, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the safety and performance of our iconic portfolio of dams and headworks assets.

Your mission will be to lead smart, efficient asset management through innovative condition monitoring, strategic maintenance planning, and exciting project development either from a civil or mechanical engineering perspective.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake intermediate and comprehensive dam safety inspections and continuously monitor and respond to anomalies in dam surveillance data and field reports.
  • Provide dam safety subject matter expertise across the business including on major capital projects and dam safety reviews.
  • Carry out assigned Asset Management tasks in line with Asset Management processes and procedures including but not limited to maintenance strategy determination, condition monitoring of assets, responding to technical queries, root cause analysis, register assets in Maximo.
  • Initiate and develop business cases for capital projects in line with Melbourne Water's capital management system
  • Build and maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships including providing technical advice to Service Delivery. (Operations and Maintenance) in a collaborative way.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of dam safety management and dams engineering as well as the application of regulatory and industry good practice in the management of dam safety risk.

You will also require experience in risk-based lifecycle management of water industry assets or equivalent industry/infrastructure including condition monitoring of assets.

A tertiary qualification in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline is essential, along with active engineering registration in a related discipline relevant to the position.
