About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coronial Registrar to join our team at the Department of Justice QLD. As a key member of the coronial service, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the State Coroner and the coronial service.
Main Responsibilities
- Providing administrative support to the State Coroner and the coronial service;
- Receiving and processing reports of deaths under s7;
- Making orders in relation to autopsies and testing under Part 3 Division 2;
- Authorising doctors to issue cause of death certificates under s12(2)(b)(iii) and s26(2)(b);
- Ordering the release of bodies for burial under s26;
- Investigating non-inquest matters as directed by the State Coroner;
- Making findings under s45 in relation to deaths resulting from natural causes and other non-inquest matters;
- Making decisions about access to investigation documents under Part 3 Division;
- Consenting for organ and tissue retrieval under the Transplantation and Anatomy Act 1979 in relation to reportable deaths.
Requirements
- A degree in law or a related field;
- Experience in administrative roles within government agencies;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
