About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coronial Registrar to join our team at the Department of Justice QLD. As a key member of the coronial service, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the State Coroner and the coronial service.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Providing administrative support to the State Coroner and the coronial service;
  2. Receiving and processing reports of deaths under s7;
  3. Making orders in relation to autopsies and testing under Part 3 Division 2;
  4. Authorising doctors to issue cause of death certificates under s12(2)(b)(iii) and s26(2)(b);
  5. Ordering the release of bodies for burial under s26;
  6. Investigating non-inquest matters as directed by the State Coroner;
  7. Making findings under s45 in relation to deaths resulting from natural causes and other non-inquest matters;
  8. Making decisions about access to investigation documents under Part 3 Division;
  9. Consenting for organ and tissue retrieval under the Transplantation and Anatomy Act 1979 in relation to reportable deaths.

Requirements

  • A degree in law or a related field;
  • Experience in administrative roles within government agencies;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
