About the Role
The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join their team at WA College of Agriculture – Harvey. As a key member of the college's management team, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen
- Develop and implement menus that cater to the diverse needs of students and staff
- Supervise the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring that all food is of the highest quality and presented in an appealing manner
- Monitor and control kitchen stock, ensuring that all supplies are ordered and stored efficiently
- Collaborate with the college's farm enterprises to source fresh produce and promote sustainability
- Develop and implement strategies to improve kitchen efficiency, productivity, and safety
Requirements
- Trade qualification in cooking or equivalent
- Proven experience in a commercial cooking environment, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on attention to detail and quality control
