Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our dynamic Design Team at Leidos Airborne Solutions Australia. This exciting opportunity will see you play a key role in supporting aircraft modifications and repairs, ensuring safe and effective operations within our fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design modifications and repairs for aircraft in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support to the workshop and maintenance teams, ensuring seamless implementation of design changes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Team to develop optimal solutions for complex engineering challenges.
  • Produce engineering documentation, including technical drawings and reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing overall operational efficiency and safety.
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required to support the broader engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Essential: A relevant Engineering degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Aviation, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred: 3+ years' experience in an aircraft maintenance or design environment, particularly in an engineering support role.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of aircraft operations, structures, and maintenance processes.
  • Basic knowledge of avionics, electronics, or systems design is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements and standards in the aviation industry.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and safety.
