Job Summary:
As a Senior Mechanical Designer at Bechtel, you will play a key role in planning, developing, and reviewing mechanical design work. Your responsibilities will include producing drawings and documentation, preparing design estimates, and coordinating with clients and technical teams. You will also be responsible for reviewing and approving drawings, calculations, and bid summaries, and ensuring that mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and coordinate mechanical design work for projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business units.
- Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope, including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing.
- Coordinate and interface with day-to-day technical work of Mechanical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters.
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of Mechanical design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, and administrative practices.
Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Desired Skills:
- Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
- Experience with multi-discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
- Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
- Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
- Specialist courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices.
- Extensive experience in design and drafting, including demonstrated expertise in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
