Rail Systems Network Modelling Intern

We are seeking a talented undergraduate to join our team as a Rail Systems Network Modelling Intern. This 12-week paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside our experienced professionals in rail modelling and planning.
About the RoleThis internship is perfect for students about to enter or already completing their final year of undergraduate study in science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. You will be involved in critical projects that will shape the future of V/Line's service planning and rail network operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Rail Network Planning: Contribute to the design and development of strategic service plans and future network configurations.
- Data Analysis: Collect, collate, and analyse operational data to inform planning decisions.
- Modelling and Simulation: Support the validation and testing of RailSys models, ensuring data integrity and model accuracy.
- Collaborative Projects: Work with a multi-disciplinary team of experts, contributing to the development of innovative decision-support tools and operational simulations.
You will gain practical, hands-on experience with advanced rail modelling systems and contribute to the development of strategic service plans that improve the way we move people across Victoria.
About YouWe are looking for motivated students who are passionate about using data and technology to solve real-world problems. The ideal candidate will:
- Be completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Have experience with quantitative analysis and data-driven problem-solving.
- Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills (programming experience is a plus).
- Have strong communication skills to present findings and collaborate effectively with a team.
