Lead Production Planning Role

The Lead Production Planner plays a key role in developing planning engineers through coaching and mentorship, and is fundamental in delivering the mine plan for a major underground copper mine.

This position is based at Adelaide on a 5:2 roster with occasional site travel to Olympic Dam.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and maintain a sustainable two-year levelled schedule with regular quarterly forecast updates, ensuring compliance with physicals;
  • Deliver a sustainable three-month rolling production plan while monitoring and responding to compliance with plan, focusing on critical path activities;
  • Identify and manage risk to the mine plan from a safety and productivity perspective;
  • Mentor and guide other planning engineers within the team to inform a sustainable plan;
  • Be a safety leader, demonstrating commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility;
  • Assume Mine Planning Superintendent responsibilities during periods of leave;
  • Liaise with operational managers and superintendents to drive mine plan performance and solve operational business risks;
  • Challenge and review planning inputs used during forecasting and budgeting;
  • Identify functional capability gaps and drive improvement;
  • Provide feedback to scheduling and engineering functions to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules, and forecasts;
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with engineering sub-functions;

Requirements include a Mining Engineering degree or similar, minimum five years' mining experience, detailed understanding of the underground mining cycle, previous supervisory or scheduling experience, and experience using Microsoft Office suite and Deswik Suite including Deswik Sched.
