The Digital Preservation Technical Analyst plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategies for the preservation of digital collections at the State Library of South Australia.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert technical advice on digital preservation strategies for legacy and contemporary digital collections.
- Contribute to the ingest and management of digital assets in the Library's digital preservation system.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary Preservica Implementation Group to develop procedures and workflows for the ongoing stewardship of digital heritage collections.
- Makes expert use of a wide range of legacy and forensic hardware and software systems.
- Undertakes research and complex problem solving to provide expert advice in the technical assessment, extraction, migration, and/or emulation of digital collections.
- Develops and implements ingest and migration workflows, including writing and executing simple scripts.
- Presents reports that document digital preservation decisions and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Maintains strong collaborative working relationships with business units, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging developments in digital preservation theory and practice.
