The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for providing direction to site personnel in QMAG's Safety, Health and Environment Management system, and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing advice, interpretation, and guidance to site management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within the health & safety (H&S) sector.
- Assisting the Parkhurst operations with maintaining standards, certifications, licenses, and legislative compliance requirements within H&S.
- Management of health & safety reporting systems along with regulatory reporting systems.
- Ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System (Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment).
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing HSQT procedures (SOPs) through site H&S committee and employees.
- Facilitating risk assessments, including JRA's and WRAC's.
- Assisting with Change Management practices to ensure risks are reduced to within acceptable limits.
- Working with the Training Department to establish and implement an active health & safety program through competency training with employees and contractors.
- Coordinating the management and investigation of incidents and identifying corrective and preventative control measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Accompanying regulatory assessors, auditors, and inspectors during site inspections with the Site Manager and overseeing any corrective actions arising from identified deficiencies.
