About the Role

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for providing direction to site personnel in QMAG's Safety, Health and Environment Management system, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing advice, interpretation, and guidance to site management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within the health & safety (H&S) sector.
  • Assisting the Parkhurst operations with maintaining standards, certifications, licenses, and legislative compliance requirements within H&S.
  • Management of health & safety reporting systems along with regulatory reporting systems.
  • Ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System (Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment).
  • Developing, reviewing, and implementing HSQT procedures (SOPs) through site H&S committee and employees.
  • Facilitating risk assessments, including JRA's and WRAC's.
  • Assisting with Change Management practices to ensure risks are reduced to within acceptable limits.
  • Working with the Training Department to establish and implement an active health & safety program through competency training with employees and contractors.
  • Coordinating the management and investigation of incidents and identifying corrective and preventative control measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Accompanying regulatory assessors, auditors, and inspectors during site inspections with the Site Manager and overseeing any corrective actions arising from identified deficiencies.
