Job Summary

This role involves designing and implementing data structures to support business operations.

The successful candidate will have expertise in advanced data engineering practices and a strong understanding of data governance principles.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality data engineering solutions across multiple business services and applications.

You will work closely with key stakeholders and business analysts to understand and document requirements, and deliver data engineering outcomes that meet business needs.

Key responsibilities include undertaking data engineering development activities, working with business stakeholders, developing continuous improvement initiatives, implementing advanced data structures and models, and establishing good practice in ETL pipeline development and deployment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Engineering Development: Undertake data engineering development activities across a range of business services and applications.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with key business stakeholders and Business Analysts to understand, document and deliver data engineering outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to ensure data engineering work is of the highest quality.
  • Data Structure Implementation: Implement advanced data structures and data models to surface data to users across multiple data streams and systems.
  • Technical Excellence: Select techniques based on breadth of knowledge of the strengths, weaknesses and expected performance of different approaches whilst maintaining cost efficient implementations.
  • ETL Pipeline Development: Establish good practice in the development, evaluation, monitoring and deployment of all ETL pipelines as well as have an advanced understanding of all of our key data systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Analyse and report findings and remediate simple issues using algorithms implemented in standard software frameworks and tools.
Requirements
  • Advanced Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical skills that allow for the development of data structures and data models.
  • Reporting Tools: Advanced understanding of a variety of reporting tools, including AWS, Snowflake, SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Creativity: Demonstrated ability to think creatively to solve complex problems.
  • Data Modelling: Knowledge of foundational best practice data modelling, implementation and support methodologies and patterns.
  • Collaborative Design: Demonstrated willingness to design/develop in collaboration with fellow team members.
  • Task Management: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and activities.
  • Communication: Contribute to an open and collaborative environment with fellow team members. Possess excellent oral and written communication abilities and can communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
