Job Opportunity

The Deputy Associate role is a vital part of our team, supporting the Judge in the daily management of Chambers and Court. This position involves assisting the Associate, deputising for them when they are on leave, and undertaking various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of Chambers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducting complex legal research and writing high-quality reports.
  • Attending court and providing administrative support in the courtroom.
  • Assisting the Associate in managing Chambers, including correspondence, liaison with practitioners and court staff, and docket management.
  • Managing Chambers in the absence of the Associate.
  • Preparing Court Orders and attending to other duties as required.

Required Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, including the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure in a team environment.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities, and participate in collective work practices.
  • A high standard of ethical behaviour, tolerance, diligence, and the ability to work as part of a small team.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be Australian citizens and satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
