About the Role

Melton City Council is seeking a skilled Certified Gardener to join our team. As a key member of our Open Space Improvement team, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing landscape improvements using your horticultural knowledge and expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement landscape improvement plans, utilizing your knowledge of horticulture and landscape design.
  • Ensure the safe operation of machinery and equipment, adhering to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of Council's Occupational Health and Safety system, City Safe, in relation to works in Parks and Open Space.
  • Assist in the completion of plant maintenance checklists and perform routine maintenance on plant and machinery.
  • Report hazards, faults, defects, and opportunities for continuous improvement via the Internal Request Sheet.
Requirements
  • Industry-related trade qualification or apprenticeship in Horticulture or an associated discipline.
  • Experience in the delivery of minor improvement works in public open space and private industry.
  • Experience with garden and landscape design and construction.
  • Experience in the safe operation of equipment and machinery in a commercial environment.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
