Mechanical Technician

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated mechanical technician to join our team at our Stapylton site. This is a full-time position that requires working various shifts across multiple 24-hour production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on a range of fixed plant with a focus on planned maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team during breakdowns and fault finding exercises.
  • Respond promptly to callouts and unplanned maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct inspections, servicing, and repairs in accordance with site requirements.
  • Lead major overhauls through various plant shutdowns.
  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to contractors and work groups as needed.

Requirements

  • Trade qualification (Mechanical Fitter) preferably with experience in heavy industry.
  • A confident, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
  • A team player with flexibility to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision when necessary.
  • Post-Trade certificate and experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • High-Risk Forklift license - desirable but not essential.
  • Working at Heights, Confined Space - desirable but not essential.
  • EWP tickets - desirable but not essential.
