About the Opportunity

This exciting role offers the chance to work on challenging engineering design and integration projects for Australian and international customers. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in mechanical design and integration of communications systems, products, and ancillaries onto various land, sea, or air platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer requirements are converted into solutions that balance technical, schedule, and cost constraints for platform design.
  • Lead aspects of the engineering program in development, technical reviews, integration, or verification within the scope of the contract.
  • Coordinate with parties providing engineering services, ensuring understanding of their responsibilities, processes, and timeframes.
  • Provide guidance on mechanical aspects of vehicle integration design and verification of mechanical requirements.
  • Oversight of manufacture of locally designed integration hardware.
  • Development of system analyses, trade studies, and design artefacts as determined.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia (e.g., Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems).
  • Extensive post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment.
  • Strong consulting, employee relations, conflict management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of navigating regulatory requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Chartered Professional Engineering Member with Institute of Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer with Board of Professional Engineers Queensland.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Experience working in the Defence industry (consideration given to operating in a complex, large international business).
