Job Description

Cochlear has an iconic status in Australian innovation, pioneering implantable hearing solutions with a rich history.

The company established Incubation Operations within its Advanced Innovation Group to support strategic start-ups and research partners. This team collaborates on design, prototyping, and manufacturing, leveraging industry-leading expertise and technology developed over 40 years.

The Role

This role involves conducting complex system development, verification, and validation work packages for electrical components and systems related to specific implants, electrodes, and external projects associated with Incubation Operations.

You will focus on both electrical software and hardware development, adhering to quality management standards. Your responsibilities include planning and executing verification and validation work packages for electrical components and systems.

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE WILL DEPEND ON YOUR ABILITY TO FORM COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH KEY STAKEHOLDERS, DELIVERING EFFICIENT AND VERIFIABLE PRODUCT TEST SYSTEMS, AND PROVIDING EXPERT DESIGN AND TEST FEEDBACK.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Track record of successful delivery of test systems, including test software, firmware, PCB layout, and electromechanical design
  • Strong analog and digital electronic skills
  • Highly developed influencing and stakeholder management skills that enable effective collaboration across the organisation
  • The ability to solve problems and collaborate to get work done that delivers value to stakeholders and benefits for customers
  • Experience with LabVIEW development and Altium tools is desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering principles, methods, and tools appropriate for medical device development
  • A responsible attitude to working safely and contributing to a safety culture
