Electrical & Process Reliability Engineer

BlueScope is seeking an Electrical & Process Reliability Engineer to join its Hot Strip Mill team in Port Kembla, Australia.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering sustained improvement in process uptime and unit cost reduction to the HSM plant assets. You will work closely with the Hot Strip Mill Asset Manager to identify and lead improvement projects, coach team members, and minimize risk to the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and mentoring maintenance team members to close technical knowledge gaps
  • Providing electrical and process control systems technical support, advanced problem-solving, and fault-finding
  • Analyzing plant and equipment performance data to identify patterns and resolve recurring problems
  • Leading and facilitating multi-disciplined teams to identify and implement asset and cost improvement projects
  • Supervising maintenance activities and striving for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving the maintenance strategy and capital project plans to increase reliability and minimize cost
  • Identifying and leading cost reduction activities by implementing strategies to improve the efficiency of the R&M spend
  • Building effective relationships to drive the continuous reliability of HSM assets

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Experience working in a similar industry within Electrical Maintenance, with a strong focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
  • Experience with fault finding PLCs and motor control systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team, influencing peers and colleagues to meet operational requirements
