About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Cyber Security Director to join our team at Queensland Treasury Corporation. As a key member of our Technology, Data and Information team, you will be responsible for driving proactive cyber posture through articulating clear cyber security strategy, governance and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cyber Security Strategy, Governance and First Line Risk, Audit and Compliance
    • Develop and implement QTC Cyber Strategy in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
    • Provide leadership to the enterprise's information security organization.
    • Provide input and guidance on cyber security policies and standards.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
    • Manage external risk assessments and audits related to cyber operations.
  • Cyber Security Operations and Delivery
    • Lead a team responsible for threat management and technical response.
    • Play a leading role in a response to a cyber incident, working with key stakeholders in relevant forums.
    • Oversee vulnerability management and identity/access management.
    • Collaborate with industry partners to enhance information asset security.
    • Establish, maintain and evolve cyber metrics and reporting across all levels of governance.
    • Manage operational budget associated to cyber services.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management program.
    • Ensure security is a priority in all new technology implementations.
  • Cyber Awareness and Training
    • Oversee security awareness campaigns.
    • Ensure security training content is updated and remains relevant to the evolving threat landscape.
  • Third-Party Vendor Risk
    • Work with procurement, legal and business stakeholders to assess and manage third-party vendor risk.
    • Oversee security vendor relationships, including building key strategic alliances and ensuring they meet performance expectations.
    • Monitor security vendor performance, track key metrics, and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Staff Management
    • Lead and develop teams responsible for security operations.
    • Recruit, hire, and train staff.
    • Provide continuous feedback, conduct performance reviews, and address any performance gaps.
    • Manage staff schedules and assign responsibilities.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Lead discussions with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure all cyber activities are visible, well understood, and support broader business outcomes.
    • Play a leadership role in a cyber incident response plan.
    • Lead Cyber Reporting to relevant Risk Committees.
    • Support discussions at the Board level to ensure they remain fully informed of QTC's cyber posture.
    • Engage with broader stakeholders across the business to ensure cyber strategy and delivery continue to support broader business goals.
