Distribution Operations Manager

The primary objective of this role is to oversee the Townsville Distribution Centre, ensuring seamless on-site and off-site operations. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the centre, optimizing service levels, productivity, and cost reductions.
Responsibilities- Lead safety initiatives as a core value across the site, including the yard and operations. Champion compliance with COR standards, load restraint regulations, and MHE safety.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency. Manage reporting, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver best-possible operational and customer outcomes.
- Handle calls from sales and customers. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and 3PL transport providers.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a supply chain, warehouse, and distribution environment, running a distribution centre in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage both inbound and outbound logistics, reporting, compliance, and project management of improvement initiatives.
- Experience with WMS systems (SAP/ERP highly regarded), inventory control, and load planning.
- Knowledge of 5S lean management, Chain of Responsibility (COR), and Load Restraint Regulations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, experienced in coaching and mentoring others to develop and get the best out of the team.
- Highly effective planning and organization skills, with strong time management and coordination skills, able to work autonomously as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, able to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, safety-focused, and bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to everything you do.
- Must have a driver's licence and forklift licence to meet the requirements of the role.
