Airport Baggage Handler Position

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Baggage Handling services to airline customers with a focus on compliance and safety.

Service Delivery:

  • Ensure timely delivery of services to meet customer needs.
  • Load and unload passenger luggage and air cargo using carts and the airport belt system.
  • Handle customer baggage, airfreight, and company material with care and accuracy.
  • Perform continuous lifting, loading, unloading, sorting, and transfer of baggage, freight, and company material.
  • Represent both the airline and employer to ensure customer satisfaction.

Management of GSE:

  • Ensure safe and secure operation of all equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor on shift.
  • Operate Ground Service equipment (GSE) in accordance with procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A valid Australian driver's license with own transport to work.
  • Physical fitness and ability to bend and perform manual lifting.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or ability to obtain one.
  • A valid authority to Drive Airside Card (ADA) or ability to obtain one.
  • Competence in Cabin Cleaning operations.
  • Understanding of the aviation industry.

Skills:

  • Competence in Baggage Handling operations.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform lifting and bending.
  • Understanding of the aviation industry.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in high-pressure environments with strict timelines.
  • Customer focus to deliver exceptional service.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and situations.
  • Health and Safety Training.
  • Manual Handling procedures.

Capable of incident report writing in plain English.
