Child and Youth Worker Role

We are seeking a skilled Child and Youth Worker to fill this vacancy in Mareeba.

  • Key Responsibilities include developing and delivering trauma-informed interventions, supporting carers of child witnesses through advocacy and information sharing, engaging in safety planning and crisis response as part of an integrated model, coordinating with police and other services through embedded response work, facilitating community education and stakeholder engagement in the region, maintaining accurate records, reports, and data entries, and providing occasional leave relief across Cairns, Atherton, Mossman, and court settings.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, and experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic context. This includes open-mindedness to feminist practice and systems-informed approaches, commitment to critical reflection and professional supervision, ability to manage complexity and support client agency even within challenging systems, and willingness to learn and grow within a highly experienced team.
