Job Title

Finance Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Analyst to join our Strategy & Finance team at Telstra. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in the development of operating plans that support our strategic goals.

Your strong technical understanding and deep knowledge of financial strategies and objectives will enable you to deliver remarkable financial and commercial analysis that has a strong, positive impact on Telstra's key activities and initiatives.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to stimulate behaviours that drive value and achieve strategic objectives. Your analytical skills and attention to detail will be essential in providing high-quality financial analysis and timely advice to various business groups aligned to strategic financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting, planning, and analysis of Telstra Purple
  • Alignment of accounting and reporting frameworks to facilitate Telstra's requirements
  • Management of Telstra Purple forecast/budget
  • Liaising and engaging with various finance SME's (treasury, finance, accounting, shared services) to drive a consolidated financial reporting
  • Support the NAS finance team with end-to-end view
  • Completion of internal and external group reporting obligations in accordance with applicable legislative requirements
  • Board meeting presentations to directors
  • Support team members with the completion of month-end activities including P&L and balance sheet management, posting of manual adjustments, and preparation of reporting packs, ensuring output is of an excellent standard
  • Support the continuous improvement in the upstream, downstream, and financial processes to achieve an optimal operating model for the management of Telstra Purple
  • Take accountability for assigned work tasks, working independently when contributing to core activities such as the preparation of periodic management reporting and financial results for assigned business areas
  • Participate in sessions with interdepartmental stakeholders, contributing quality financial analysis and timely advice to various business groups aligned to strategic financial objectives

About You

  • CA or CPA qualification or working towards
  • Experience in both management accounting – to support business partnership and technical accounting - to support accounting compliance
  • Desire to build leadership skills with a genuine commitment to building capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to details
  • Proven demonstration of a growth mindset with tenacity for problem-solving and willingness to seek information and appropriately challenge status quo
