This opportunity is for a Senior Privacy Officer to play a critical role in shaping privacy across Queensland government agencies.

You will manage privacy complaints, assess data breach notifications, and provide expert advice on the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).

About The Role
  • The Senior Privacy Officer plays a key part in supporting Queensland government agencies with the interpretation and administration of the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
  • You will:
  1. Manage privacy complaints and data breach notifications under the Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) scheme, including assessments, advice, mediations, and correspondence in line with the IP Act.
  2. Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to Queensland public sector entities to improve information handling and understand legislative responsibilities.
  3. Develop resources, training materials, and publications for staff and public sector entities, including policies, templates, and guidelines.
  4. Promote awareness of the IP Act and emerging trends through events, publications, and training.
  5. Represent the organization at meetings, forums, and awareness activities, such as Privacy Awareness Week and practitioner forums.

We report to the Queensland Parliament and operate under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). Our purpose is to promote transparency and facilitate public access to government information.
