As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in hospitals and aged care facilities.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Providing personal care, including toileting, feeding, and transferring patients.
- Preparing and managing medical services under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Administering medications and treatments as directed.
- Assisting with transfers, transportation, and manual handling of patients.
- Encouraging patients to participate in recreational activities and promoting their overall well-being.
- Maintain the highest standards of patient care and dignity.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Assist with patient transfers, transportation, and manual handling.
- Prepare and manage medical services under supervision.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed.
- Document patient care and progress accurately.
- A minimum of 6 months' experience as a Nurse Assistant.
- A current, satisfactory police certificate or NDIS Paid Yellow Card.
- Influenza vaccine and COVID-19 booster vaccine.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Manual handling certificate.
- HCA or Ausmed training completed or willingness to complete.
- Two clinical references within the last 12 months.
As a Nurse Assistant, you will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, often with limited supervision.
You will be required to work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights, and may be required to work in multiple facilities.
Physical demands of the role include standing, walking, and lifting patients, as well as working in a physically demanding environment.
You will be expected to maintain a high level of physical fitness and be able to perform manual handling tasks safely and effectively.
Additional requirements include:
- Uniform and closed-in shoes to be worn at all times.
- Gloves, gowns, and masks to be used when dealing with hazardous materials or biological substances.
- Participation in workplace health and safety processes.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and storage, disposal, and handling of chemicals.
