Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting structural inspections of port equipment, including ship-to-shore cranes, gantry cranes, and rubber-tyred gantry cranes. This role is critical for maintaining the safety and functionality of port operations equipment.

Duties:

  1. Conduct thorough inspections of port equipment to identify wear, damage, or defects.
  2. Assess equipment conditions and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance actions.
  3. Prepare detailed reports of inspections, including findings, recommendations, and timelines for repairs.
  4. Collaborate with other engineers and maintenance teams to ensure timely and safe resolutions of equipment issues.
  5. Evaluate equipment compliance with relevant Australian Standards and safety regulations.
  6. Utilize technical knowledge to model equipment and design modifications as required.
  7. Participate in practical tasks to assist with repairs or installations as needed.
  8. Apply mechanical theory and related knowledge to test and modify operational machinery and equipment.
  9. Analyze operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to inform inspection findings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of industry experience as an engineer.
  3. Previous experience within the Port Services environment is highly desirable.
  4. Must be an Australian citizen and eligible to gain and maintain an Australian security clearance.
