System Futures Manager

The Australian Energy Market Operator is seeking a System Futures Manager to lead an engineering centre of excellence and a team of highly skilled, future-focused power system engineers.

As a senior leader, you will be responsible for managing a team of up to ten individuals, attracting, retaining, and developing a high-performing team that demonstrates AEMO's values and fosters an inclusive, innovative culture.

You will partner with Network Service Providers and the operational and planning teams to provide high-quality service and advice. Flexible working options are available in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, or Perth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the System Futures team in delivering technical investigations and providing expert advice on future power system development and energy system issues.
  • Develop and maintain power system study capability, tools, models, and future state cases for technical investigations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify risks ahead of time and help enable proactive solutions.
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering).
  • Deep expertise in the operation and planning of large power systems and the engineering challenges associated with the National Electricity Market transition.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing teams that work in complex technical environments.
Deliverables
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed studies of the power system, including reports, presentations, and data visualizations.
  • Design and implement new processes and procedures to improve team efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences to share knowledge and stay up-to-date with best practices.
