Lead Lawyer Position Overview

This is a senior role that requires a seasoned criminal lawyer with leadership experience and a passion for growing a team and practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing legal operations, mentoring a team of lawyers, and spearheading business development initiatives in a suburban office.

About the Role

As the lead lawyer, you will drive office performance, support staff development, and manage your own caseload of summary and indictable criminal matters.

You will also be responsible for leading and managing the office and its staff, driving office profitability, and meeting financial targets.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the office and its staff.

Drive office profitability and meet financial targets.

Mentor and support lawyers in delivering outstanding service.

Develop and maintain referral networks.

Represent the firm in professional networks, CPD events, and community engagements.

Manage a caseload of criminal law matters - preparing matters and appearing at court.

Oversee compliance with legal and internal policy requirements.

What You Bring

At least 5 years' post-admission experience in criminal law.

Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.

Strong ability to generate client work through networking and business development.

Excellent legal skills and advocacy in both summary and indictable matters.

High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to high ethical standards and client care.

Desire to take on a strategic leadership role.

LIV Specialist Accreditation (or intention to apply).
