The Position

We are seeking an experienced Emotional Support Specialist for Cancer Survivors to join our team. In this role, you will provide emotional support and guidance to individuals affected by cancer, helping them navigate their recovery journey.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Offer empathetic listening and emotional support to clients, addressing their concerns and promoting coping strategies.
  • Facilitate access to professional counselling and/or peer support, according to service operating guidelines.
  • Deliver group and individual psychosocial support, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Engage in moderation of our online community, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Conduct training sessions for peer support volunteers and facilitators, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and implement promotional activities, enhancing awareness and equity of access for people affected by cancer.
  • Promote collaboration and communication among internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless delivery of supportive care services.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and maintenance of records, adhering to Cancer Council NSW's policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the analysis of issues raised by clients and peers, informing evaluation and improvement of service delivery.
  • Support the development of new Cancer Council staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
