About the Role

The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Support Teacher to join our team in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver the Underpinning Skills for Industry Qualification (USIQ) course on the Broome campus, ensuring that students receive a high-quality educational experience.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the USIQ course, including reporting on key measures such as student module completion rates and student satisfaction.
  • Provide teaching support to students undertaking the USIQ vocational education and training programs, including individual and small group instruction.
  • Teach research skills and academic writing and communication skills to year 12 students undertaking Unipath.
  • Achieve compliance functions by conducting administrative work and preparing documentation.
  • Facilitate and promote students' learning independence, self-determination, positive self-esteem, health and wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A relevant degree and diploma of education, minimum of 3 years (Category A – D).
  • Diploma in TESOL (e.g. Dip SRA, Grad Dip TESOL) or a postgraduate diploma in applied linguistics, languages other than English (LOTE) or multicultural education.
  • Specialized teaching experience in areas of Special education, Aboriginal education, literacy or numeracy education, TESOL and or Aboriginal English.
  • Additional alternative professional qualifications may include Social or Youth work, educational psychology, or speech therapy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of a vocational education and training environment combined with well-developed tutoring skills for individuals and groups.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to relate to a diverse range of students and staff, and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Proven problem-solving skills including initiative, flexibility and an ability to teach/tutor small groups of students while meeting individual learning needs.
  • A demonstrated ability to coordinate, with minimal supervision, variable workloads, work schedules, set priorities, meet deadlines and carry out tasks in order to achieve desired outcomes.
