Allied Health Professional – Mental Health Care Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Allied Health Professional to join the Acute Care Team in South Tasmania. This position involves delivering hospital-level care in community settings as part of a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will provide specialized, trauma-informed support to adults in crisis, working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to deliver holistic treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver assertive, community-based mental health care, including assessments, risk management, and individualized therapeutic interventions.
- Engage actively with patients, families, and carers, using recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices.
- Collaborate with team members to facilitate safe discharge and continuity of care, coordinating with general practitioners and community service providers.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives, clinical documentation, and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Approved allied health degree and relevant registration with a National Board, or full membership/eligibility with a professional association for self-regulated professions.
- Experience: Minimum of two years post-graduate experience in a clinical mental health setting, with demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions.
- Essential Checks: Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration and other pre-employment checks.
