Forensic Mental Health Specialist

This role is an exciting opportunity for a Forensic Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Clarence Correctional Centre, working with inmates and staff to promote rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the community.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology, with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. They will also possess strong assessment and treatment skills, including experience in mental health issues, cognitive impairment, and behaviour management.
We offer a competitive salary package, including $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, plus benefits such as flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and access to onsite parking. About the Role:
- Determine the mental health needs of inmates through comprehensive assessments and develop individualised plans for treatment and rehabilitation.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions and programs to support the recovery and reintegration of inmates into the community.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
- Provide expert consultation and advice to staff on managing complex inmate behaviours.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Strong assessment and treatment skills, including experience in mental health issues, cognitive impairment, and behaviour management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including inmates, staff, and other stakeholders.
