Fire Safety Officer

The role of a Fire Safety Officer is to contribute to providing high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through teamwork.

  • A Australian citizen or permanent resident status
  • Manual C Class driver's licence
  • Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
  • Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station

Your Commitment:

  • Attending incident and emergency calls: 50% as a day worker with routine hours, or 30% as a shift worker or with non-routine hours
  • Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions
  • Obtaining an MRV licence, at their own expense, within 12 months of employment
  • Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
  • Complying with safety policies and procedures, including code of conduct and personal presentation standards

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • To respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a team member
  • To promote community safety by contributing to community education activities
  • To develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses
  • To maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
  • To operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively
  • To contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
  • To ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities
  • To contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required
