Job Opportunity: Sports Turf Teacher

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Sports Turf Teacher at Melbourne Polytechnic. This is a full-time, ongoing role with a competitive annual salary of $78,564 - $111,391 plus superannuation.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and assessing quality vocational education and training in sports turf subjects. They will also provide practical assistance in flexible and field-based classes, including OH&S, fertilizing, aerification, pest and diseases, nutrition, and plant culture.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with program leaders and managers to set and achieve teaching objectives.
  • Undertake administrative, coordination, and learning activities related to the assigned program.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate student learning programs, projects, and materials.
  • Design teaching resources and assessments that meet curriculum and contract requirements.
  • Participate in classes and programs.
  • Conduct pre-training assessment reviews and assessment requirements.
  • Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in selection, enrolment, and induction processes.

Requirements:

  • A degree, diploma, or certificate relevant to the sports turf field, combined with industry experience.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher adult teaching/VET qualification.
  • A thorough understanding of current industry practices and procedures, with a demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain liaisons within the sports turf industry.
  • Excellent machinery operation skills.
  • Current Victorian Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, teaching methodologies, and high standards of teaching practice.
  • Well-developed teaching skills, including the ability to select and use various teaching strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong ICT skills to produce work for learners, assist with e-learning, and report across programs.
