Workplace Rehabilitation Specialist

The Workplace Rehabilitation Specialist plays a vital role in facilitating the safe and effective return of injured workers to the workplace. This position ensures compliance with relevant laws and promotes best practice in workplace rehabilitation.

This specialist will support national business units, focusing on rehabilitation strategies and individual worker needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lodging workers' compensation claims and understanding compensation entitlements
  • Implementing administrative procedures following a workplace injury
  • Coordinating suitable duties programs tailored to common injuries and worker requirements
  • Addressing psychosocial and psychological factors affecting return-to-work outcomes
  • Communicating effectively with injured workers, management, treating practitioners, insurers, and stakeholders
  • Establishing or collaborating on rehabilitation plans with external providers
  • Raising awareness among supervisors, managers, and workers around workplace rehabilitation practices
  • Monitoring return to work progress and addressing breaches of obligations
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of workplace rehabilitation policies and procedures

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant training in Queensland Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation or a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position
  • Experience in workplace injury management or return to work coordination with a self-insured business
  • Familiarity with legislative frameworks and rehabilitation guidelines
  • Strong understanding of workers' compensation systems and rehabilitation services
  • Ability to design and implement effective return to work strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and injury impact on work duties
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and best practice
