GIS Python Developer Role Overview

This position involves the development and customization of Physical Network Inventory tools within a Scaled Agile delivery framework. As a GIS Python Developer, you will collaborate closely with solution architects and Technical Leads to understand requirements, document low-level designs, develop and unit test features, and work with vendors to ensure the solution is deployed in accordance with the defined architecture.

Main Responsibilities:
  • You will be responsible for contributing towards the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of complex and large-scale Physical Network Inventory systems.
  • Your experience on delivery lifecycle of initiatives will be valuable in this role.
  • You should have strong customer service focus with an ability to respond to changing customer priorities.
  • Creating high level and detailed design artifacts for the initiatives/projects will be one of your key responsibilities.
  • You will need to contribute to Test Plan and Test Strategy.
  • Ensuring software developed meets quality standards through code and design reviews is crucial.
  • You may participate or provide documentation for any product reviews of deliverables during the project execution.
  • You will be required to Contribute to Status Reports.
  • You will contribute towards strategy initiatives for our clientele.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal assistance is essential.
Technical Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Python with advanced libraries like Pandas and Numpy is required.
  • Experience with GIS software and spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Spatialite) is necessary.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS is preferred.
  • Experience in SQL, PostgreSQL is required.
  • You should have 5+ years of Python development experience.
  • A good understanding of Iron Python and ActiveMQ is beneficial.
  • GIT, CI/CD, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker experience is preferable.
  • Prior experience with AWS technologies (e.g., Lambda) is an added advantage.
  • Ability to update and maintain test suite using PyTest is important.
  • Working knowledge of Agile lifecycle management tools like JIRA/Confluence is desired.
  • Experience in Network design exchange formats (GML, MapInfo), network data analysis, etc. are added advantages.
  • SAFe certified is a plus.
Educational Qualifications:
  • An Engineering Bachelors or master's degree level or equivalent is required.
