Risk Management Specialist with Internal Audit Expertise

GTAL is seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our Brisbane Risk Consulting Division. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work on high-quality risk management and internal audit engagements, utilising your expertise in risk and controls practices, and methodologies.

About the Role
  • This Senior Associate position will focus on delivering end-to-end client engagements, working closely with clients to understand their risk environments and develop engagement plans that address areas of higher risk and opportunities for value addition.
  • You will be responsible for on-site delivery of engagements, managing client interactions, and overseeing junior resources while coaching and developing junior staff.
  • Your strong analytical skills and organisational abilities will enable you to review and quality-check findings and recommendations within the context of the client's broader business environment.
  • Additionally, you will contribute to commercial problem-solving through analysis, critical thinking, and logical reasoning, presenting outcomes to clients and internal stakeholders to influence decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high-quality risk management and internal audit engagements, providing expert advice to clients on risk and control matters.
  2. Develop and implement risk management strategies, identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure clients' goals and objectives are achieved.
  3. Analyse complex data sets, drawing meaningful insights to inform business decisions, and utilise specialist knowledge to deliver engagement outcomes.
  4. Collaborate with managers to develop high-quality reports and engagement deliverables, ensuring timely and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in business risk, business process review or internal audit, preferably within the public, transport and infrastructure sectors or large accounting firms.
  • Sound understanding of control documentation and assessment, as well as business process review and improvement through facilitation and documentation.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing risk across medium to complex projects, including gap assessments and quality testing documentation creation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office applications skills and strong report writing ability, with excellent listening and questioning techniques supported by strong analytical skills and organisational activities.
