Job Description

The APAC Data Protection Manager ensures compliance with data protection laws across China, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. This role provides expert solution-oriented advice on privacy compliance, supporting the Global Privacy Office and aligning with local legislation.

  • Lead and complete Privacy Impact Assessments for business process changes, ensuring timely delivery and effective risk mitigation.
  • Monitor, report, and support remediation of privacy risks and compliance issues across business units.
  • Provide expert privacy advice and guidance to APAC business units, backed by research and aligned with legal and policy requirements.
Responsibilities

This role demands strong leadership skills, the ability to drive compliance initiatives, and excellent communication skills. The Data Protection Manager plays a key role in fostering a privacy-first culture, building cross-functional relationships, and ensuring alignment between business operations and global privacy strategies.

  • Develop and lead the regional Hub Privacy Programme, aligning with global strategy and ensuring local compliance.
  • Identify and address gaps in privacy programmes, especially during audits, acquisitions, or divestments.
  • Maintain a network of Privacy Champions to foster a culture of privacy awareness and accountability.

The successful candidate will have excellent business level proficiency in Mandarin and English, certification in privacy (e.g., CIPP/A, CIPM), and in-depth knowledge of global privacy laws in commercial settings.
