The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Specialist: Sustainability to join the global Greenfields Explorations business unit. This role will provide technical leadership, advice and guidance of health, safety, environment, community and security (HSECS) functions within Greenfields Exploration (GFX) and support all countries where Greenfields Exploration is currently operating.
Key Accountabilities
- To implement sustainability strategies within assigned project areas
- Closely collaborate with GFX regional teams to develop integrated sustainability plans
- Grow and maintain a proactive safety culture within teams, enforcing GFX protocols and managing risks.
- Support the management team to align culture and vision with AGA values
- Raise sustainability awareness, provide technical guidance, and utilise audit tools to inform responses, findings, and action planning.
- Maintain sustainability systems and contribute to system improvements
- Provide technical leadership for HSECS, supporting regional resources and ensuring HSECS function integration in new projects.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, manage performance, and develop team capabilities to achieve desired outcomes.
About You
We seek candidates who embody our core values, prioritising safety above all else. To be considered, you should possess;
- Professional qualifications in safety, health, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience in health and safety management in mining, preferably with exploration activity exposure and HSEC formal qualifications. Environmental management, community, and security expertise will be highly valued.
- Practical knowledge of exploration and mining, encompassing drilling operations, remote field activities, aviation, management systems, auditing, and risk assessment.
- Flexibility in addressing complex tasks and priorities.
- Influential leadership in safety, health, environment, security, cultural heritage, and stakeholder engagement.
- Effective cross-cultural and cross-functional communication skills.
- A commitment to collaborating with diverse teams, comprised of technical and operational members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite, SharePoint, MS Teams, and learning new systems.
- Fluent English, with other spoken languages being an asset.
- Medical fitness for remote work and adherence to relevant vaccination requirements.
- Australian working rights and a valid passport.
