Electrical Project Engineer Job Description

IMEG is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead design efforts and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of electrical systems in buildings. As a project manager or lead engineer, you will oversee low to moderate complexity projects and work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and industry standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended.
  • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions, collaborating with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications, implementing IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet quality standards and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in engineering, contributing to research, development, and innovation efforts within the company.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools, including lighting photometric calculation software, power system analysis and design software, and energy compliance software.
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and Master Specification editing and software.
