Teacher of the Deaf Position

We are seeking a qualified and experienced educator to join our team at Macquarie site.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification in Education of the Deaf, with a Master of Disabilities/Sensory preferred.

A key aspect of this role is designing and implementing learning and teaching programs that cater to the needs of students with sensory loss.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing teaching activities that support student participation and learning
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum programs
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers to ensure student progress and well-being

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification in Education of the Deaf
  • National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf membership
  • Native/near native Auslan signer, Interpreter level or fluent in Auslan
  • Excellent written and verbal/signer communication skills
