Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated Portfolio Manager for Special Assets to oversee our Special Assets Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-risk loans while effectively mitigating risks to enhance the financial performance of borrowers, sustain relationships, and control risk exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessing the assigned loan portfolio to identify strengths and weaknesses, and formulating strategies to uphold and enhance the overall credit quality of the organization.
  2. Executing these strategies efficiently and effectively, adhering to the policies, procedures, and guidelines established by Senior Management.
  3. Utilizing negotiation skills to address problematic cases before legal proceedings, ensuring the best interests of the organization are prioritized.
  4. Upholding Borrower Rights while identifying and managing distressed assets in compliance with regulatory standards.
  5. Coordinating the management of the assigned portfolio, following the guidance provided by Senior Management.
  6. Facilitating timely resolutions of foreclosures and bankruptcies to secure organizational collateral and recover deficiencies while minimizing expenses and losses.
  7. Maintaining accurate and comprehensive accounting records as mandated by policy, procedure, and GAAP, including Charge Offs, Specific Reserves, and Quarterly FASB 114 reporting.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in negotiating workout strategies and restructuring troubled debts, with effective communication skills for borrower interactions.
  2. Exceptional customer service abilities.
  3. Strong accounting skills are crucial for conducting credit analysis.
  4. In-depth knowledge of the laws governing commercial lending, particularly the foreclosure process.
  5. Ability to manage high-pressure situations in a professional manner.
  6. Expertise in negotiating complex transactions.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience in Farm Credit is advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of five to seven years of experience in agricultural and/or commercial lending or related fields is required.
