We are seeking a highly skilled Beamline Scientist to join our I07 Surface Diffraction Beamline team at Diamond Light Source. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the beamline, providing user support, and conducting high-quality original research.
The I07 beamline is a state-of-the-art facility designed for grazing incidence diffraction and scattering experiments. You will have the opportunity to work with an intense, high-energy x-ray beam to study the structure and morphology of solid and liquid surfaces and interfaces.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the beamline and end-stations
- Providing user support and assistance to visiting scientists
- Conducting high-quality original research on the beamline and elsewhere
- Participating in the in-house research programme on in-situ/operando characterization of interfacial chemical reactions
We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field, well-developed experimental skills, and a background in surface/interface science, electrochemistry, or catalysis. Knowledge of UHV techniques, surface characterization techniques, and software development is desirable.
