Material Handler Job Description

The role of Material Handler is a key position in our organization, requiring the operation of equipment, handling materials, and performing other duties as instructed by the supervisor.

  • Operating forklifts, telehandlers, and reach stackers
  • Yard handling, including relocating cargo
  • Waste management, separating wood and plastics from cargo
  • Identifying steel for scrap
  • Working with a team of crane operators, management, and other operators
  • Flagging and tagging cargo

The ideal candidate will have a valid forklift ticket, white card, and telehandler experience. They should also be able to work in all weather conditions and possess a valid Australian driver's license and car. Availability to start ASAP is essential.

This is a full-time ongoing job, and the applicant is expected to commit to working for at least 1 month but possibly 6 or longer months based on performance and project.

The applicant should be available to complete inductions and medicals prior to engagement. This role requires physical stamina, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a range of heavy machinery, including forklifts, telehandlers, and reach stackers.
  • Manage yard operations, including the relocation of cargo.
  • Ensure effective waste management practices are in place, separating wood and plastics from cargo.
  • Identify and extract valuable materials from waste streams.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals, including crane operators and management.
  • Accurately flag and tag cargo to ensure safe transportation.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will require:

  • A current forklift ticket and white card.
  • Relevant telehandler experience.
  • A valid Australian driver's license and car.
