The Practice Development Nurse – Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the professional development of all permanent and program staff across our clinical settings. This dynamic individual ensures best practice by providing ongoing education and support, focusing on advancing knowledge, skills, and training relevant to the clinical setting.
This will be achieved through implementing clinically based education using evidence-based principles to improve nursing care delivery. Furthermore, they will be responsible for their own professional development to maintain expert clinical skills and advanced knowledge.
The Practice Development Nurse – Specialist facilitates the development of nursing staff through targeted education programs and clinical support, including graduate, postgraduate, and specialty practice pathways.
They work closely with Nurse Unit Managers, Education and Learning Coordinators, Managers, educators, preceptors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality learning experience across allocated clinical areas.
Assisting in the development of education resources, policy updates, and best-practice initiatives that integrate feedback, research, and digital tools to enhance program outcomes.
Promoting reflective practice, maintaining clinical competence, and modeling the values of compassion, integrity, justice, and excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the professional development of all permanent and program staff
- Ensuring best practice through education and support
- Implementing clinically based education using evidence-based principles
- Facilitating education programs and clinical support
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Nursing Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Degree in General Nursing meeting registration requirements
- Postgraduate Qualifications in relevant nursing speciality (preferably Masters in Advanced Nursing)
- Postgraduate qualification in Education, Clinical Supervision, or similar
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience
- Experience in clinical teaching, clinical supervision, or implementation and facilitation of educational programs
- High-level learning and development facilitation experience and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Competent computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word
