Cell Modulation Researcher

The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences invites applications for a 24-month fixed term postdoctoral research associate position in the field of cell modulation.

You will work closely with distinguished scientists from leading Australian universities and international partners such as MIT and Johns Hopkins. You will be based at UTS and contribute to building Australia's quantum economy through cutting-edge research in quantum biotechnology.

This role is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated individuals with a background in opto-electronics and materials to develop nanoscale opto-electrodes for the modulation of neuronal and cardiomyocyte activities, shaping the future of biomedical imaging and clean energy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking original research in the field of cell modulation;
  • Contributing to seeking research funding from external sources;
  • Developing and maintaining expertise in organic and inorganic synthesis of hybrid nanoparticles, optical characterization of single nanoparticle spectroscopy, and fluorescence microscopy;
  • Collaborating with researchers across institutions to advance the understanding of cellular mechanisms and their application in real-world contexts;

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, material physics, particularly opto-electronics and nanotechnology;
  • Ability to undertake original research, willingness to contribute to seeking research funding;
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in organic and inorganic synthesis of hybrid nanoparticles, optical characterization of single nanoparticle spectroscopy, at least two years of postdoctoral experience;
  • Previous experience in research relevant to fluorescence microscopy;
