This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strict confidentiality, initiative and innovation while supporting Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation's (Anyinginyi) mission: to be a provider of high-quality holistic primary health services featuring prevention and treatment in the Barkly region in a culturally responsive way.
This role necessitates strong relationships with male clients, effective collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of colleagues within the Health Services Section as well as other service providers, and a holistic philosophy to overall good health and wellbeing.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Aboriginal Health Practitioners to maintain and develop culturally appropriate and accessible health services for men.
- Continuing the ongoing development and promotion of Anyinginyi Health programs and participating in health and wellbeing check clinics.
- Providing STI education, screening and contract tracing.
- Delivering healthcare to men, youth, aged and people with disabilities, including prompt follow-up and recall of patients in liaison with AHPs, doctors and other nurses, and facilitating tracing (for notifiable diseases) and treatment of patients moving between communities, homelands and outstations.
- Delivering substance abuse care, nutritional care and mental health care.
- Providing capacity-building education and information sessions to community.
- Involving traditional elders and leaders in promoting health and wellbeing within the community.
- Initiating and participating in health promotion activities aimed at individual and population health preventative initiatives, ensuring all program material and content is up-to-date, appropriate, relevant and engaging for the target audience.
We are seeking an exceptional communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills who can tailor their approach to the needs of each family and possess the ability to identify their strengths and build effective relationships with our clients.
About YouTo be considered for this position, you must possess current registration as a Registered Nurse and evidence an understanding of the Primary Health Care system and key issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with an Aboriginal organisation or communities will be highly regarded but is not essential, provided you can demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues pertaining to Aboriginal Primary Health Care and the social determinants of health in our surrounding communities.
A National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children's) card obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement in this role. Please refer to NT Safe for further information.
About the SalaryThe salary for this role is $104,817 - $111,990 per annum, plus generous salary packaging and professional development incentives.
