About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Marble, a growth-focused Australian resources company. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of a new underground copper mine, with a focus on ensuring the stability and efficiency of the operations.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in underground metalliferous mining, with experience in leading and mentoring teams, as well as managing budgets and projects. They will be responsible for delivering short-term planning, optimizing mine design and budgets, and ensuring safety requirements are met in engineering designs and plans.

About the Project

The new mine will be based in Northern Queensland, and will employ a combination of long hole open stoping and sub level caving mining methods. The deep sections of the mine are seismically active, often experiencing rock defamation in the shoulders subject to high stress.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on project-based work, move their career forward with progression opportunities, and make a significant impact on two major mining projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver short-term planning and optimize mine design and budgets.
  • Ensure safety requirements are met in engineering designs and plans.
  • Lead and mentor a small engineering team.
  • Supervise daily operations in the engineering department.
  • Manage and develop budgets for projects and operations.
  • Oversee mine establishment works, including engineering and ventilation design.
  • Conduct project work, including shaft excavation and pumping.
  • Track rapid development and oversee support activities.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and minimize mining impacts.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors to enhance productivity and safety.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • 5+ years of senior experience in underground metalliferous mining.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proven leadership and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in contractor management.
  • Strong financial acumen with budget management and operational optimization.
  • Ability to conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Deswik, and VentSim.
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
