Job Role: Loss Prevention Clerk

The primary objective of the Loss Prevention Clerk is to monitor and maintain a safe and secure work environment, minimizing losses due to theft or other malicious activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Walking the warehouse and perimeter to identify potential security risks.
  • Maintaining knowledge of company procedures and applicable laws related to loss prevention duties.
  • Attending meetings and seminars to stay up-to-date on best practices in loss prevention.
  • Observing, detecting, and investigating internal and external theft threats.
  • Detecting and interviewing shoplifters when necessary.
  • Preparing reports for internal use and potential prosecution.
  • Maintaining evidence and report files collected from investigations.
  • Communicating with other area security personnel to exchange information about current and local theft threats.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

To excel in this role, applicants should possess:

  • A high school certificate or higher.
  • Loss prevention, security, or comparable experience.
  • Floor Walk Inspection Training prior to beginning work in the department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
